1. What is Reverse EMF?
There has been recorded instances of an electric shock involving a laptop charging trolley. A 3-pin plug supplying the trolley when removed from the supply socket can have sufficient stored electric charge on the pins of the plug to give the user an electric shock. This is a reverse EMF effect. The patented Eco System V3.0 that is installed on Lock & Dock units has a safety relay that will block any residual charge.
2. What is a “Docking Station”?
The Docking Station is a permanent security latch for your Lock & Dock Trolley. Attach the specially designed “Docking Station” option to the most suitable wall. Wheel the mobile Lock & Dock cart into the docking station and activate the locks. The will help prevent theft of a valuable asset
3. Why 3 latch points on doors?
One latch point on a door can be a weak point for theft. Lock & Dock “Vault” models have three separate points that engage when the door is closed.
4. Is the product produced in an environmentally friendly manner?
Yes, we are committed to;
Design, manufacture and procurement of environmentally-friendly and recyclable products
Evaluation and elimination of waste-creating activities
Replacement of hazardous substances with sustainable alternatives
Communicating these values to staff, suppliers and customers
5. Can the computers get too hot?
Ventilation is an integrated feature of all Lock & Dock models. Heat is not retained in the cart or wall unit.
6. How do I charge a number of laptops at once?
Eco System V3.0 that is installed on Lock & Dock units offers power management and safety. A one touch activation will start a factory programmed controller to distribute power between banks of laptops and shutdown when the cycle is complete. This system will ensure the power circuit is not overloaded.
7. Where is the best place to keep a Lock & Dock unit?
There are three factors to consider for the location of a Lock & Dock. A central point will allow users to easily access the laptops. Second consideration is somewhere that is secure in a building. Third consideration is to ensure that any OH&S issues have been taken into account.
8. Is there a difference in storing computers horizontally or vertically?
Horizontal storage is ideal as the computer is designed to lay flat. Horizontal storage should reduce stress on hinges and reduce damage due to repeated sliding along the edge of the computer. Some of the Lock & Dock models have internal modules that can be set for horizontal or vertical storage.
9. Keyed locks or combination locks?
Gilkon do not use combination locks as we are of the view that these can easily expose the user to a security breach without the users knowledge. Combination locks are very convenient, however when the cabinet has been opened the combination lock is usually left in its open position with the combination exposed. The combination can therefore be seen by numerous people, authorized or unauthorized. Even when the combination is not left exposed, the user may not know if a breach has occurred until it is too late.
10. Does Lock & Dock have any features that the competitors don’t?
The entire Lock & Dock range is designed and manufactured in Australia. Eco System V3.0 with reverse EMF protection is unique to Lock & Dock. Heavy duty "Docking Stations" that secure a Lock & Dock trolley to a wall are very popular options. Choose a colour for your Lock & Dock and it will be applied using eco friendly power coat in Australia, to Australian environmental standards.
